Indigenous Economic Development Day & Economic Developer of the Year Awards

May 7, 2018, the SFNEDN hosted our luncheon to celebrate May 7th which was proclaimed Indigenous Economic Development Day and our Economic Developer of the Year Awards.  Proudly sponsored by the Business Development Bank of Canada, the 2018 Saskatchewan First Nations Economic Development Awards hosted May 7 ,2018 at Wanuskewin Heritage Park showcase the work, passion and outcomes achieved by an individual First Nation citizen and community that builds positive business relationships, employment for First Nations and incorporates traditional values into mainstream business practice.

The importance of economic development to the wellbeing of First Nations in Saskatchewan and contribution to the health and resiliency of Saskatchewan’s economy cannot be understated. The entrepreneurial spirit of First Nations in Saskatchewan is acknowledged as a critical engine of economic growth, innovation and diversification in our province. First Nation individuals and communities are known to be leaders in economic growth and job creation.

In recognition of this, the SFNEDN presents our annual “SFNEDN Economic Developer Awards” commemorating the effort and achievement of individuals and communities. One award was given in each category:

  • Individual Economic Developer Award; and
  • Community Economic Developer Award.
